For many holiday-makers and even indigenous Swedish people there is nothing which is more beautiful than the view of the beautiful lake Siljan near Leksand.
This view you will have from your older holiday home in the village of Västanvik. The house was built about 1800 and will be found at a rebuilt Dala manor where also the landlord lives.
After only 300 meters you will have access to the Siljan and to the opportunities for swimming, fishing tours and to the camp site, where you can also get simple meals, which will be served.
The whole area around the Siljan is rich in natural beauties and cultural sights. Leksand and Rättvik at the southern waterfront of the lake are popular destinations with old churches, beautiful art and open-air museums as well as original folklore meetings. You will also find here many holiday alternatives, like medieval markets/fairs, the Midsummer´s Festivals (Midsommarfirande), which is quite unique for the Swedish people as well as the "Summer land" with attractions for young and old.
Rättvik is about. 25 km away and there some special arrangemnts take place, like "Rättviksdansen" and "Classik car week".
Your holiday home is well equipped, has among other things underfloor heating, but also an old wood-burning oven in the kitchen and tiled stove, presenting something special and unusual. Upstairs there is a large living room with tiled stove and direct view of the lake and the Leksand church. There is an outside area with garden furniture, and the barbecue grill for a pleasant meal in the evening can be rented at the landlord.
